Genosys SnowCell Spot Treatment is a professional South Korean enzymatic peel and skin-brightening protocol designed to target sun spots, post-acne dark marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) and uneven, dull skin tone. Rather than stripping the skin with harsh, crusting acids, it combines freshly activated vitamin C, kojic acid, arbutin, lactic acid and peptides to gently clear pigmented surface cells while helping regulate excess melanin production. At our salon in Şişli, Istanbul, every original Genosys SnowCell session is tailored after a detailed skin and pigmentation assessment.

What Is Genosys SnowCell and How Does It Work?

Dark spots and uneven patches appear when melanocyte cells overproduce melanin and that pigment clusters in the upper layers of the skin (epidermis). While standard brightening creams struggle to penetrate dead surface buildup, aggressive chemical peels can irritate sensitive complexions and trigger rebound pigmentation.

The Genosys SnowCell system mixes a fresh SnowCell Enzyme Powder with a dedicated Activator Solution right before application to work through two complementary mechanisms:

  • Gentle Enzymatic and AHA Exfoliation: Lactic acid and natural fruit enzymes dissolve melanin-laden dead surface cells without scratching or stripping the skin barrier.
  • Melanin Synthesis (Tyrosinase) Regulation: Freshly activated pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid), kojic acid and arbutin help inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for excess pigment production, helping prevent new dark spots from forming.
  • Peptide and Barrier Support: Oligopeptides and soothing botanical extracts protect hydration during exfoliation and support collagen renewal for a smoother, more luminous texture.

What Is It Used For?

Clients looking for a brighter, more even complexion without heavy downtime choose Genosys SnowCell for:

  • Sun spots and post-summer unevenness: Softening UV-induced dark spots across the cheeks, forehead and nose (learn more in How to Fade Sun Spots: Types of Pigmentation and Professional Care).
  • Post-acne dark marks (PIH): Fading stubborn brown or reddish marks left behind after breakouts heal (see our guide on How to Fade Acne Scars and our acne care page).
  • Dull, tired-looking skin: Restoring clarity and radiance to complexions fatigued by urban pollution, stress or smoking.
  • No-downtime brightening protocols: Offering targeted pigment care alongside our skin care and gentle organic peeling services.

What to Expect and What Not to Expect

Managing pigmentation requires consistency, a structured course of sessions and strict daily sun protection. Setting clear expectations is essential:

Can help with Should not be expected
An immediately brighter, fresher and more rested-looking complexion from the first session Erasing deep, long-standing dermal pigmentation or hereditary freckles in a single session
Gradual fading of superficial sun spots and post-acne marks over a 3 to 6 session course Permanently curing hormonally driven deep melasma without medical dermatological care
Even-looking skin tone without heavy sheet peeling or social downtime Preventing spots from darkening again if daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is skipped
Smoother surface texture and softer-looking fine dehydration lines Filling deep pitted (atrophic) acne scars

How Does a Session Work?

A Genosys SnowCell session at our salon takes approximately 60 minutes and follows five steps:

  1. Skin & Pigmentation Assessment: Our specialist evaluates the depth of your pigmentation, skin sensitivity and home routine to map out your treatment course.
  2. Gentle Oxygenating Cleanse: Makeup, sunscreen and surface oil are removed using barrier-friendly Genosys cleansers and toners.
  3. Fresh SnowCell Enzyme Peel Application: The freshly mixed vitamin C, kojic acid and enzyme complex is brushed onto the skin and left on for 10 to 15 minutes according to your skin’s tolerance to dissolve pigmented dead cells.
  4. Brightening Serum & Soothing Mask: After neutralizing and removing the peel, a concentrated brightening serum and cooling soothing mask are applied for 15 to 20 minutes to calm the skin and lock in moisture.
  5. Barrier Hydration & SPF 50+: The treatment finishes with a restorative moisturiser and broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen.

Who Is It Not Suitable For?

To protect your skin barrier, Genosys SnowCell should be postponed or avoided in the following cases:

  • Fresh sunburn, open wounds, active cold sores (herpes) or severely inflamed/cystic acne on the face
  • Clients currently taking oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane/Accutane) or who have completed treatment within the past 6 months
  • Skin treated with aggressive laser resurfacing, microneedling or deep chemical peels within the past few days
  • A known allergy to kojic acid, vitamin C or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), or an active rosacea/eczema flare-up
  • During pregnancy or breastfeeding, physician clearance is required before using concentrated brightening actives

Aftercare and Daily Routine

Protecting your skin from UV rays after a brightening treatment is the single most important factor in maintaining your results:

  • Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen every morning year-round and reapply every 2 to 3 hours when outdoors so melanocytes are not re-triggered.
  • Pause at-home retinoids, tretinoin, AHA/BHA acid toners and physical scrubs for 3 to 5 days after your session.
  • Avoid steam rooms, saunas and direct sunbathing on the day of your treatment.
  • Keep your skin well moisturised and follow your recommended course of 3 to 6 sessions spaced 10 to 14 days apart for cumulative brightening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about this content

Does Genosys SnowCell cause heavy peeling or flaking?

No. Unlike aggressive medical chemical peels (such as TCA) that cause heavy sheet peeling and crusting, Genosys SnowCell uses a controlled enzymatic and lactic acid blend to gently dissolve pigmented dead surface cells, allowing you to return to daily life right away.

How many sessions are needed and how far apart should they be?

Most clients notice a brighter, fresher glow after their very first session. For cumulative fading of sun spots and post-acne marks, a course of 3 to 6 sessions spaced 10 to 14 days apart is typically recommended.

Is it effective for sun spots and post-acne marks?

Yes. It is particularly effective for epidermal (superficial) sun spots and brown or reddish post-acne marks (PIH). Deeper hormonal melasma requires dermatological guidance alongside strict sun protection and gentle supportive care.

Can Genosys SnowCell be performed during the summer?

Autumn, winter and spring are the ideal seasons for brightening courses. However, because SnowCell does not strip the skin aggressively, it can be performed cautiously in summer for clients who avoid direct sunbathing and apply SPF 50+ religiously.

Should I stop using retinol or exfoliating acids before my appointment?

To prevent irritation, we advise pausing at-home retinoids, tretinoin, AHA/BHA acid toners, prescription spot creams and physical scrubs for 3 to 5 days before and 5 days after your session.

Is Genosys SnowCell suitable for sensitive skin?

For mildly sensitive skin without active inflammation, our specialist can shorten the contact time of the enzyme blend to keep the treatment gentle. It is not performed during active rosacea or eczema flare-ups.

How can I prevent dark spots from returning after treatment?

Pigment-producing cells have a memory and can darken again quickly when exposed to UV light. Wearing a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen every day year-round and keeping your skin barrier hydrated is essential to maintain your results.
